My new 35mm point and shoot. The Konica Big Mini. Love the images this little camera produces.
I needed to head over to Glasgow and I decided to take my new point and shoot film camera, the Konica Big Mini. So I loaded up some Kodak Ultra Max and jump on the train. So happy with the images I got. This was the first time I had used this camera and it is now my go to pocket camera. Absolutely love it.

Isle of Skye Vlog - Day 2
Просмотров 145Год назад
Day two exploring the ISle of Skye. I woke up to a stunning sun rise so headed out to capture the Old Man of Storr. I opt for a different vantage point than the usual shots of the Old Man and waited until the sun illuminated the scene. The next location was new for me, Rha Falls. A very dark and gloomy location but really great to capture. Website: www.stuartmcmillanphotography... vero.co/smcmi...

Day one exploring the Isle of Skye. On route we stop off at Eilean Donan Castle. An early start to get to Kilt Rock view point, looking over Mealtfalls then on to the Fairy Pools. Hi great photos and video, almost makes me wanting to move there. Caan you put your settings along side the pics?? I know its a tedious jod doing video, keep up the great work
Hi I'm a street photographer in USA California., and I'll be in Edinburgh March 21 can't wait. I noticed your pictures they came out great. Did you use cinematic in post? keep up the good work, I am a subscriber now. Jan
Thanks dakid. Yeh, Edinburgh is a great city to just wander around without too much of an agenda. Just enjoy all the little side streets and buildings that you come across. Did some post in Lightroom to clean up the images and colour-grade them. Have a great time.
Great Video Stuart, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony.
Your videos are really nice
Thanks Douglas. 👍
Great series and some fab moody shots. Want to visit Skye in th enext year - Stunning island
Thanks Craig. Yeh, it really is such a stunning island. Hope you manage to get over there in 2024.
super work Stuart. Love the explainations - really helpful
a fabulous place - the images that you captured were stunning.
Lovely photos, and it was good to see you making the effort to find different compositions, even when it was pretty precarious at points 😁👍
Thanks Duncan.
So you camped out in a passing place
Not so much a passing place, more a mini lay-by, about 4-5 cars long. There’s quite a few on that road.
Hit the subscribe button,beautiful photos
You gotta love Edi :) If you don't love Edinburgh you probably have no soul... 😜
It’s really beautiful
did you manage to get over to talisker bay at all?that road will really test your suspension.i went down to the neist point lighthouse for a sunset shot, it is a trek and a half to get back from there to the car park again, but worth it all the same.
Hi Derek. We did attempt Talisker bay but we weren’t too sure where to leave the van and if we were okay to walk down the path that said ‘private’ on it?
Blustery weather. Looks like a good time.
A great insight to a location I've always wanted to visit. Enjoyable video, cheers Stuart.
Cheers Simon. Skye is stunning but I’ve heard summer is chaotic. Probably down to these photographers making RUclips videos of the place ….
Looks Beautiful, amazing work Stu🌠
Thanks Louise. Hope you’re doing great.
Very nice looking.....man and nature
☺️
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
awesome
So beautiful
Hi Stuart! Amazing video. The Isle of Skye is one of my dream place to visit! Waiting for day two. Thank you! Ah, and what a beautiful baby :D. Best wishes.
Thanks Anderson, Yeh Skye is incredible. It looks like there has been a lot of infrastructure development. Large car parks etc which suggests that the place gets extremely busy in the summer months. So if you do manage to get there, plan it off season and you’ll get the place to yourself. All the best for 2023.
Hi Stuart! Amazing as always. I went to Norway 4 years ago (Bergen, Flam, Myrdal and Oslo). What a beautiful country! Thanks for sharing. Anderson.
It’s so picturesque. Some of the old parts of Bergen are gorgeous. Great to explore.
Looks beautiful 🌠x
It sure is.
Unreal stu 👌🏽
Hi Stuart! Just discovered your channel, looking for Edinburgh phot locations :). It will be my 2023 trip. Subscribed! Cheers, Anderson.
Hey Anderson. Edinburgh is a great place to explore - lots of hidden alleys and stunning buildings. What kind of subjects are you interested in?
@Stuart McMillan Hi Stuart! Since I'm not a professional photographer like you hehe, I like to learn for fun and improve my "photografic eye" (Even doing this with a Smartphone). I'm interested in Arquitecture and small villages. Dean Village it's one of the places I'm most excited to visit next year 😍.
Dean village is so nice. It’s hard to believe that it is just yards from the city centre.
Night photos Stuart, I completely agree with the info overload. Woodland photography is something I'd like to improve on but really struggle especially if there is no strong subject.
Yeh, it’s challenging. Looking at other forest photos, there seems to be either gorgeous soft light or mist. Think I’ll wait until these conditions before giving it another go.
Omg....can you not make a video without the sweetie little songs for teens???
Sure, Let me know what kind of music you’d like so all my videos can be to your taste because you’re the most important person in the world….
Nice vid. The mountain you photographed in Glen Rosa was actually Cìr Mhor.
Lovely images of the capital. What camera are you using to film yourself on this video?
Hey, I think it was filmed on the Canon M6.
Good to see you back Stuart, Fife has some amazing coastal villages that are ideal for some great shots there is another old pier at Aberdour that’s worth a visit your images are stunning 👍
Thanks Chris. Yeh, I’ve been along to the Aberdour pier a few times. I need to time it better for the tide (and the weather)
Also glad to see you back. Love having someone who's local, with a great eye & a understanding of the light and weather we have around Edinburgh plus finding some great places to shoot.
Thanks Jude. So fortunate to live in Edinburgh with all the amazing photo locations in and around the city.
Good to see you back Stuart, I could spend a week going up the Fife coast from Culross to Tayport, so many photographic opportunities, loved the image of the pier on the film camera , spot on exposure.
Thanks Stuart, Yeh I was chuffed with how the film shots came out. Definitely need to explore more of Fife. There looks to be some great locations when turning left after crossing the bridge, heading along to Charlestown.
I absolutely love that you show us the before and after post production. Thank you!!
Thanks for the walk and talk. I thought the photos were very good indeed! I'll be there next month visiting! I think my Fujifilm 10-24mm is going to be needed for those narrow streets.
Thanks Bill, Hope you have a great time exploring Edinburgh and the weather plays fair.
Nice!
Did you use a certain profile or film sim in camera? The colours look bold but not oversaturated. Looks great.
Hi Ernold. Thanks. The film simulations are good but on this occasion I shot Raw and made the adjustments post in Lightroom.
Beautiful and melancholy and time/space transporting. The first picture of the sunlight breaking through the clouds made me think of the face of God turning his countenance onto the lost soul stranded on a craggy rock.
Enjoyed this Stuart, great trip despite the rain!
Thanks Simon. It was better than what the weather app predicted, thankfully.
Fantastic Stuart McMillan Video, I have always enjoyed your Videos Mark, Hope to see more soon, Thanks for sharing
Enjoyed this a lot and thanks for sharing all of those locations and how to find them. A photography buddy and I are going to be in Edinburgh on Weds/Thurs this week, so we’ll definitely be utilising all of this! Cheers pal
Hi Stuart very interesting video, I am interested in getting Fuji x100s myself the photos that you took ,look great are they straight out of the camera . thanks for sharing Best Regards Tim
Hi Tim, I did do a bit of editing to them, well, edited one image in Lightroom then copied the edit over to the other photos. Worthwhile looking at some reviews on how Lightroom handles Fuji files these days as at the time Lightroom struggled with the Fuji raw files. You actually get a free version of Capture One if to use on Fuji raw files as it handles them better. This video is a few years old now so maybe Lightroom is better at rendering the Fuji files now.
Welcome Back Stuart, it's been a while I have missed your work
Thanks Tony, Yeh restrictions haven’t made it the easiest to get out exploring these past months. Hope you’re keeping well.
Wonderful stuff, subbed just bought this camera and your shooting in my favourite city, something different thanks
Sorry for your time. I wanna ask that between fujifilm x100s vs xa5, which one is better pls?
Hi Helen. Not sure what you mean by xa5?
Reall nice video Stuart. I plan to go out in the next week with my camera in Edinburgh and shoot some street photography, this has certainly inspired me to do so. Maybe I'll bump into you! 🏴
Thanks Dan. Yeh, Edinburgh is such a great city to explore. There’s always something interesting to photograph.
Cheers for the name drop Stuart. You can shoot Porty's Eiffel tower from the beach when the tide is around 2.75m. Ideally arrive as it is dropping and that allows you to get the camera nearly on the sand and gets the marker above the horizon with more of it showing. As the tide drops you can use the pipe to create a leading line with long exposures shooting from the side so it is diagonal in the frame, if that makes sense. Saying all that I like your shots and it works pretty well with the head of the marker above the horizon and you got some really nice light for the shots. Keep up the videos it is brilliant watching local venues and you are getting some really good shots.
No probs Simon. Yeh, I’ll be making more visits to the location for different tide levels. Thanks for the info.
Nice images, you are lucky to have the coast... I love woodland photography but starting to lose inspiration ! I am in West Lothian and gagging to get back out to the coast !
Cheers Colin. Yeh, hopefully restriction will be lifting soon and we can start exploring further afield. I’m missing the mountains and the lakes.
Great long exposure vlog, thanks for sharing
Cheers Tony.
Great video and stunning photo!
Thanks so much.
Fab as always
Thanks Margaret.
